Regular Pen  Heavy-Duty Pen 
Razertip’s standard pens are the smallest, most versatile pens made. Our fixed tip Heavy-Duty pens are only slightly bigger, but will take punishment like no other. All Razertip pens carry a full one year unconditional warranty. Adapter cords are available to fit Razertip pens for use on other brands of burners.
"Why does Razertip manufacture Heavy Duty pens and how are they different from regular pens? Heavy-duty (HD) pens were originally designed for use in schools where students can be very hard on tools. The "HD" description refers to the strength and durability of the pen's tip and tip connecting posts. HD pens have evolved over the years for use as shaders and for applications where standard tips would be physically too weak. Many of these pen types (shaders, etc.) are available only in HD. HD pens are slightly larger than standard pens, with thicker tips. They need more current (power) to operate, they take approximately 20-30% longer to heat up, and the tips won't get quite as hot as standard pens at a given temperature setting. Because of these differences, we recommend standard pens (when a choice is available) for most applications. We also recommend use of an HD pen cord with an HD pen. Standard (FL) pen cords, when use with HD pens, generally get warm because they cannot quite carry enough current to meet the needs of the HD pen, especially where higher heat is required. They will also slow the tip's heat recovery. While there may be times where slow tip heat recovery is desirable (for example for certain types of drop-off shading), most applications work best when your tip recovers its heat as rapidly as possible. HD pens will also be desirable over standard pens in situations where the user tends to be heavy-handed with a burning pen, causing the tip to bend or break. If you are experiencing bending or breakage of the tip in a standard pen, try increasing the heat slightly and using a bit less pressure on the work surface. If bending or breakage is still an issue, you may wish to invest in an HD pen.

Warranty Information: All of our pens and fixed tips carry a full one-year unconditional warranty. If a fixed tip fails after one year, don’t throw it out! It costs only $5.00 (except for scale tips, which are actual cost of tip) including shipping and taxes to have it replaced. |
