Our caning awl has a wooden handle and a long (41/2") blade, tapered for gently lifting the cane at the edge of the seat frame to ease weaving as well as lifting the loops when tying off the bottom during hand caning. It is also an excellent tool for making room in the holes for another strand of cane.
